INTERIOR TRENDS FROM THE MILAN AND PARIS SHOWS

Panfili

Luigia Panfili has returned from the Milan and Paris shows and brings ‘ur dream home’ readers up to speed with the top trends for the coming year.

THE TRENDS

LACE
Already big on the catwalks, lace is showing up in the home collections of Zara and H&M. Count on seeing lots more in the months ahead.

MIX YOUR METALS

Metallics are everywhere right now from lampshades to furniture. Brass is back and golds are hot! But don’t worry, chrome and silver are still going strong as well. This year, don’t be afraid to mix your metals which add depth
and interest to your space. Light fixtures
and hardware do not always have to be
the same finish and can look fantastic
when mixed.

Lighting for the Home

RECLAIMED, RECYCLED AND REPURPOSED WOOD
Repurposed wood is not a new trend by any means, but we’re going to see a lot more of it this year. Wood walls, bamboo flooring, cork flooring, reclaimed wood paired with metals, and reclaimed-looking synthetic wood will be everywhere this year. Real wood accessories such as cutting boards, trays and coasters will also be showcased in stylish homes around the globe.

Wall Paper

WALLPAPER

Whether you fancy experimenting with period details, intricate ironworks or industrial concrete, the new breed of wallpapers has it covered. Finally “fakes” we love!

KITCHENS

The white kitchen (not the plastic 80’s version) is back... and making a bold statement. I am seeing this everywhere from new high-end construction to quality renovations. This trend also extends to the bathroom.

PAINTED VINTAGE FURNITURE

Whether purchased second-hand and painted or bought brand-new, painted vintage/vintage-looking furniture takes the spotlight.

Add a splash of colour to your room.
